Default Blue tick hound

Buddy from B.C. is looking for a bluetick hound. He hunts cats and has some hounds now, but is looking for a GOOD bluetick male.

any leads?

How far is he willing to travel? I know a couple breeders in b.c.
A few in alberta, and I'm currently working on importing a pair from Montana.

He's in the lower mainland. I'm not sure that travelling is an issue.

Where are the breeders in B.C.?

Two up northwest near the Alaska border. Another way up north east.
The willingness to drive south may be a good idea.
Dogs are cheaper so that helps offset the fuel costs.

How do they handle the cold up here? I have always wanted one but if they can't live outside then they are not the dog for me.

I really think it's a bit of a gamble. I have homed puppies that have come from Texas that have handled the cold very very well.
On the other hand I have had dogs that have come from Canada that are shivering in -10.

Default hounds

I have run hounds all my life, brought many in from states that never see real cold....they ran well not bothered by weather. They were pups when I bought them, so came up outside with my Canadian pups.

Tell him to call granlund firearms in campbell river. Karle granlund has been in the cougar hunting scene for a while now and if he does not have hounds for sale he would know anyone who would.

Don't know of the particulars but there was an ad on Kijiji for a few coon hounds. There was a couple pups and a started female if I recall correct. Not sure if it's still up tho but could be a start
