Exclamation Do The Right Thing ... resist 'The Bystander Effect'.

I know this young man and his family. They're some of the best people I've ever met.

As soon as he knew what was going on, he didn't hesitate; https://www.nelsonstar.com/news/form...-muslim-woman/

Take notes,

Selkirk

Good for him. No one should be treated like that.

Good on J Taylor.

Sure glad things worked out.

I'm sure it rattled him and everyone in on the train.

Big thumbs up, he did absolutely the right thing in the way he stood up for her. Much better than the more popular "film incident with your smartphone and put on social media, let everyone express their outrage then let someone else deal with it." response.

Awesome fella, he defiantly stepped up and did the right thing, that almost seems like a weird sentence in today's world! Wish there were more just like him in this world!!

He did the right thing, good on him, takes more effort to be the rock in a river, make a stand.
Today we get bombarded with all the bad because that news sells quick but there are good people out there doing good things.

My thoughts exactly. Far too many people think that being the wanker who films an incident rather than helping rectify it has any merit. They’re fixated on putting it on social media or even monetizing their footage by any means possible. The real men and real women of character just dive in and try their best to help. Sorry [not sorry] for only including two genders there....

That being said, some people are best kept at the sidelines anyway, they come from a special breed that is likely more hindrance than help.

That there is a proper man, I’m glad they’re still being minted.

Arrow Good write-up by the Vancouver Sun . . .

Quote:
“Where I come from, helping people is an expected thing,” he (Jake Taylor) said. “Everybody needs to stand up for each other.”

Vancouver Sun article ... http://vancouversun.com/news/local-n...rd-canada-line

In that article, there's also an explanation of why so many people hesitate to help in situations like this.

More things like this need to be printed as what most people believe will happen if they stand up for someone is like what happened in Portland this year. Just as hate breeds hate good will breeds good will.
Good for him to do what’s right

Awesome story. I just hope I'll do the same if placed in a situation like this.

Great to see people helping others. Kudos to this young man. I'm not entirely certain that people are any more complacent today than they were in the "glory days" of the middle-aged like myself. The Bystander Effect is something that has been well-studied in social psychology circles since the 60's. Lots of complexity to it.

This ^

Unlike some would have it, the 'Bystander Effect' is not related to any particular generation, or culture ... it's part of the overall human condition, and it's been around for thousands of years.

The first known written example of the Bystander Effect is the parable in the Bible, known as; "The Good Samaritan".

This short vid is a summation of how it happens ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSsPfbup0ac

Thank god there are still a few brave people around.
There seems to be a majority of ******* in the general public that sit there and not get involved.
