Auger Pull Cord Replacement
My Eskimo Z71 cord gave up on my second pull this morning. Had to chip my way to my fish.
Where can I find some replacement cord? I’d like to replace it with a slightly longer piece to be honest.

I’d rather find the rope and replace it myself. Seems it would be far more cost effective.

I had my Z71 starter break on me too. Took it into a small engine repair, covered by warranty and they looked after all that.
This was the whole fly wheel casing, the plastic teeth broke off so I’d pull the cord and it wouldn’t grab on anything

I would think any place that does small engine repair could help you. Stuff like chainsaws, lawn mowers, or even the place you bought your auger from.

Should have known and thought of it from the beginning. Ar-Jays on the north’s side of Edmonton comes through as always.

Pretty sure home depot sells replacement ropes too. I think I got one with a handle on it for like $6.

Order on Eskimo website.
The entire recoil box, gear, spring pack, rope and mitten pull is under $30 and 2 days away via fed ex envelope.
OR ........ fishin' hole for $40 and just go and grab one
https://www.thefishinhole.com/index....-KIT/&se=29327
Takes 4 minutes to swap out.
The cords are all kind of short and the most common failure is guys grabbing it and trying to pull the thing like a full arm extension. These short recoils require a short and sharp pull.
I did it on my Z-71 too.

It has always amazed me how so many people wreck these recoils. If your auger is in decent shape and you know how to start it properly it should only take 1-2 decent pulls to start. If you are going gorilla mode trying to get it to start you obviously have other issues you should deal with(bad gas, priming, gummed up carb, bad spark plug etc).

Eskimo has a parts website is one option although the shipping can be pricey. Lots of other online and local options to get them from as well. Fishin hole is one local option that will also ship and I am guessing most of Eskimo's service locations likely have them in stock.

eskimo won't ship to canada, no option for it on their website.
I used their distributor called yetman, easy enough to do, part numbers (SKU) off the eskimo site and called yetman up and ordered, the number is 1 800 665 8623

Maybe a guy used to I can't remember. I needed a gas line for my auger and I remember the shipping was going to cost more then the part but can't remember if I phoned them or maybe it was that yetman etc.
Lawnmower Hospital in Edmonton stocks most of the common parts(throttles, recoils, gas tanks, fuel lines etc). A good place to contact if you are in need of something harder to find then a recoil.

Snowmobile shop will have cord you can buy by the foot. ATV dealer will have cord (synthetic rope) they use for winches.

As I understand it, this is a common problem with the Eskimo recoils that has been fixed in more recent generations of the augers. Although I might be misinformed.

I had some issue as you. The rope broken into two piece when I pulled. I just went to Canadian tire and bought a rope looks exact the same. Costed me only $1 or so.... Watch youtube video before you do your job, very easy replacement

User issue. Most people dont understand you dont have to pull a mile in these new engines. Short stroke is all or guess what.....Have the same issue for years on m6 Husky chain saw out camping. Let the boys use it and they pull the rope right out. Watch them pull and they are pulling for the moon.

I'm guessing long arms to be the cause of most pull starts
