I recently watched The Eagle Huntress. It is filmed in Mongolia and shows the tradition of hunting and competing with eagles. I found it very interesting.

Ancient Impossible.
Watch a few episodes of that, and you'll see that our ancestors didn't need the Martians or other "ancient aliens" to do things for them.

I like Forensic Files and I sometimes wonder if its broadcast as a warning not to commit murder because of the incredible forensic resources available today, and you WILL get caught.

Mayday! is pretty good too.

13th - on Netflix. I found it to be a good, engaging look at the US prison system and some of the history on how they got there.

'The White Helmets' on Netflix...about the volunteer civil defense people in Syria who try and save as many civilians as they can after artillery and bomb strikes.
Makes you think...whilst I totally disagree with Trudeau's immigration policy, you watch this show and realize no sane person would not try and get their family out of this craphole (Syria).
I just think it should be the other Muslim countries that should ante up and help these people, but of course they are too busy fighting each other.
It seems that if you have a room of 10 Muslims, no more than two or three will get along with each other.

If your into traveling there is a documentary type series called "departures". Basically it is 2 Canadians with a camera man following them around. They have been everywhere and it is a refreshing travel show as you can tell it is not scripted in any way.

Beuitiful show that just hits all the right notes.

Definitely watch Agafia's Taiga Life... Surviving in Siberian Wilderness for 70 years.

"In 1936, a family of Russian Old Believers journeyed deep into Siberia's vast taiga to escape persecution and protect their way of life. "

There's a film called No Accident that talks about where chronic wasting disease came from and the potential ramifications. I had to watch part of it for work and it features several ranchers from Saskatchewan.

We are watching Planet Earth II. The whole family looks forward to it every Sunday on demand. The cinemaphotography on the mountains episode makes your stomach turn.

Default Charged : The Eduardo Garcia Story

I recently watched Charged a very interesting story involving a Montana hunter. I recommend it highly. It’s on iTunes, not sure about Netflix.

Default Two I enjoyed recently

The Boys of 36 (American Experience PBS)
In the summer of 1936, nine working class young men from the University of Washington took the rowing world and the nation by a storm when they captured the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Berlin. These sons of loggers, shipyard workers and farmers overcame tremendous hardships—psychological, physical and economic—to beat not only the Ivy League teams of the East Coast but also Adolf Hitler's elite German rowers. Their unexpected victory gave hope to a nation struggling to emerge from the depths of the Great Depression.

Great Earthquakes of the Pacific Northwest

Central Washington University geology professor Nick Zentner discusses field evidence for great earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest including buried soils onshore, turbidites offshore, and CWU Geology’s PANGA data from GPS receivers.

The Bridge -

A great documentary you can watch just by searching it on google.

“The majestic Golden Gate Bridge is one of San Francisco's most popular tourist destinations. Unfortunately, it also is a beacon to people, struggling with depression, addiction or mental illness, who leap to their deaths into the waters of the bay. Filmmaker Eric Steel documents those suicides and interviews some of the victims' grieving survivors.”

Icarus

Amateur cyclist and film maker sought to find out the true effects of doping, only to become entangled in the massive Russian doping scandal.

Great documentary.

Depends a lot on what turns your crank. I watch and read a lot of the WW2 stuff. You Tube has plenty of the documentaries that have been broadcast over the years, lots of Eng sub Russian, Finnish and Chinese and other stuff. Watched a lot of the SHOAH testimonies, they do make you wonder about the human species.

OP - you've gotta do it if you haven't. Every outdoorsman would love it. It's called "One Man's Wilderness" by Richard Proenneke. There were actually two of them made. The second one is a two part show / series / doc, called "Alone In The Wilderness." Might have to buy it in physical format. It was one of those things that PBS did a special on I think.

Just watched this one today on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it! If you are a music fan, you will love it.

Hired Guns

all about studio musicians and session players...how they are the unsung heroes of the music biz, how they get treated, how they got their starts, and some cool background details on stories you may already have heard (like the death of guitarist Randy Rhoads)

But above all, that, it showed me what a class A dick Billy Joel was and still is.

You also may like this reality series I just watched on Netflix...

Shot in the dark

all about L.A videographers (called stringers) who chase the news stories to get video to sell to the networks...and beat the other guys...for lucrative $$$. Most times, they get there before police or fire do.

8 episodes so far, and kinda riveting to watch.

Google video had a full length documentary on k129 sub, and the series of BBC documentaries titled "The Death of Yugoslavia". Both very interesting, I don't know if they are around anymore.
