Lots of wishful thinking going on here. As I tried to say already,
the more important bad news, is in the details.

So you do not believe that people will vote the UCP in because they now believe their ideas align more with a conservative government than the NDP?

What details?

I'll be watching what plumb position Mr. Rodney gets if / when the UCP govern the province. That one thing alone will speak volumes.
I have been active with the Kenney campaign since he started, and I can tell you with great certainty that the old boy PC's have all run away. They have all ended up trying to do a hostile take over of the Alberta Party..... All one has to do is look how well that is going right now to tell you what kind of life the ol Redfordian's have left in this Provence.

I have been extremely impressed with the dedication Jason has to his grassroots promise for this new party, and for Alberta. The reason there hasn't been much said on policy is because of this.... the policy is coming from the people up.... not top down. I'm also President of my Constituency Association, and we will be working hard to bring some good policy to the policy convention next year. If anyone is interested in helping shape the way forward for Alberta, I would strongly suggest reaching out to your UCP constituency association and see about getting on the policy sub committee.

The party is very much the broad tent coalition Jason has promised.

The last harper conservative to waltz in and think he ll own an alberta election didnt have much success.... in fact he failed so miserably the ndp got voted in.

Wildrose was the popular conservative party and they merged with the unpopular conservative party now they are trying the harper conservative trick again.

This may back fire, lol, all you need is the youth to go out and vote and stodgy old cons stuck in the 1960's are done

Harper has been our best PM in decades. Comparing to Harper is a huge compliment.

Prentice was no Harper. He was an idiot IMO. He did stupid things and said stupid things and got what he deserved.

The Liberal smear campaign on Harper was so made up it was sad. Everything Trudeau said was bad he is doing himself. So ya...your post was nonsense.

Kenney is from the same group... that is about all I was saying, this is like 2015 all over again for the conservatives. Using a big name from the Harper conservative era to garner votes because alberta is supposedly conservative( even though it is more liberal/ndp conservative than conservative conservative)

Alberta is a socialist government spending petrostate.... the pants came off in the last few years because the resource revenue wasnt there to smooth over the numbers. Like it has been for the past 15 years previous to the oil and gas crunch.

You have to like all the people from other provinces that moved here in the last 10 years because their home province was in the crapper and there was no work, only to tell us how awful Alberta is and proceed to help elect the same type of dimwits that flushed their home province down the toilet.

You obviously haven't been informed of Kenney's previous accomplishments. He isn't just pig at the trough like most politicians, he has accomplished change. To demote him to the level of Prentice etc is nothing short of wrong.

And the same applies to refugees that want to turn our country into the same type of disaster that they ran away from.

Nailed it, boys. Move away from a third-world or socialist nightmare and then vote yourself some of that prosperity.

Democracy and capitalism will only function properly when the voters and politicians act responsibly.

People are funny. Complaining about immigration but touting the former immigration minister that screwed up so much. Remember the TFWP... Mr Flip flop himself.

Kenney is a master self promoter, I doubt this is going to end well for Alberta.

I haven't voted in almost 30 years, know why? There's nothing worth voting for. As for people like me screwing up the province due to voting? Really Hal? Need I remind you about PC Redford? Jimmy Prentice? Who flushed Alberta down the toilet?

NDP is in this province because of arrogant PC's - and their voters. Prentice sniped the Wild Rose, and look what happened. Prentice called an election thinking it would be a cake walk. Here we go again, Wild Rose is sniped - and is now dead. Another Harpercon could take the helm.

Not my fault buddy, look in the mirror,. That's the one thing that Prentice said that makes absolute sence. Politics in Alberta is dead, a wasteland. 2 political parties and the rest can't get their pants on. It's always everyone else's fault.

Because they are unfamiliar with the political history of this province, they are reacting the same way to similar change.

If Kenny is half the leader that Harper is then we have a 1000 fold better leader than what we have now in Notley.

Kenny is a smart guy. I am sure he will do way better than Notley.

The Alberta NDP is a Federally run NDP sub party and bet your bottom dollar that the collusion between the Feds, Alberta and BC NDP parties are really strong.

Kenny is a smarter money person that all the best NDP combined.

That has to be the funniest thing I've seen you post.

Lets look at Harpers track record on Alberta oil for a moment. Obama (real or perceived) stood hard on global warming or climate change - whatever you want to call it. If you don't believe there's something going on environmentally - go step outside. Be it man made, or polar shift, whatever, Alberta is definitely warming up.

When Harper decided to stand on the world stage, remove Canada from the Kyoto accord and fight with every bloody environmental group on the go - he painted a rather large target on Alberta's back. Why did Obama kill keystone? Because Harper couldn't shut his mouth. Politically, Alberta was screwed at that point, yet again. Ethical oil, yeah - environmentalists dug in hard, Harper dug in harder. Who won again?

Enter Trump, passes Keystone - then an oil spill in South Dakota. Pipeline built by Americans using US steel - according to Trump - but Canada takes the blame for the spill. Yeah, Alberta oil sands are looking really good on the world stage.

What is WCS selling to the USA for at the moment? What discounts?

Kenney is threatening to go to war with the BC NDP over Kinder Morgan? Yeah, who's going to win that fight?

I'll be sitting back with a beer and a bag of popcorn if Kenney gets elected. NDP or UCP, frying pan or fire, that's your choices. Alberta is going to lose more.

My riding as well and I was happy to vote for Jason. He is not looking for "old boys". In fact, the ones running from the party were/are the "progessives"...they are going to try to get the Alberta Party looking like a viable moderate...Ha!!! They are the ones who want back into the trough. Guys like Lukazak (sp. ?) I see Jason putting the conservatism back into the party. But he does have to vet his party for social views which could be described as "radical" or "extremist".

Nice optimistic outlook on our province and the people who live in it. Another immigrant I presume who moves here but then chooses to do nothing but critisize it.

Sure. The next election will show the NDP completely wiped from this province with the exception of 3-4 seats in Edmonton.

How am I criticizing Alberta? I'm criticizing how Alberta has been treated. I'm criticizing the politicians that have all but destroyed Alberta.

But, your last comment shines through - and speaks volumes. Keep spewing the hatred of the rest of Canada. All you're doing is isolating yourselves. It's everyone else's fault.

I love Alberta, shame to see what's happened to it.

""How am I criticizing Alberta? I'm criticizing how Alberta has been treated. I'm criticizing the politicians that have all but destroyed Alberta. ""

Sounds like one of the old boy PCer's who don't like anything that's going on, they got booted to the curb and are eating some rather black feathers. Didn't like Wildrose, didn't like Brian Jean, Do not Like Kenney, etc, etc. Don't like the UCP, etc. Nothing is right. So they are scrambling mightily trying to take over the Alberta Party and most of them just about choked on their tongues when a Dipper Back Bencher moved over. Yep, know quite a few, related to a few more, and all the same. Sour.

Nice try, but I do not hate the rest of Canada. My dislike is for people who choose to move here and then display their defeatist attitude, "destroyed Alberta", if that isn't a defeatist attitude I have never seen one. Alberta may not currently be as prosperous as it once was, but destroyed.........hardly.

So just because you vote, you feel that gives you the right to crow about what's happened to Alberta? The PC's historically drove Alberta into the ground, and the NDP is making it no better.

I have no political affiliation Jungleboy, doubt I ever will. To me, no government has the interest of Canadians in mind, they are just in it for themselves.

If down the road I see someone worth voting for? I'll vote. Had Brian Jean been the man, I would have voted for him, would have gotten off my arse and campaigned for him, but alas, it's going to be the same old and that's what the old boys on AO want. I'm not voting for Kenney or Notley.
