picked up Bro and went after geese this morning we were going to flight them, no one had time to spot them out in a field, that`s for tomorrow, We were going along the trail and there was coyote track in the fresh snow and ask to be dropped off, got along the fence and waited for a few minutes and hit the call, took about 7-8 and this Male stuck his head up from the coulee, only 100 yards away and I had the fence to rest on , the 17 WSM barked and the best sound a guy can hear WOMP, head shot.
We headed down for about five miles and going down the trail there was another set of tracks, a Virgin road snow covered no truck tracks. I stopped the truck and Bro stayed in and I walked down the road to the opening of the valley. Got the Foxpro out and hit lighting Jack , in a minute I had 12-15 magpies coming at me and one thing I have learned is they come yote is not far behind, magpies sat on every sage bush that would hold them I turn to my right and there looking my way was a light dog , he came down the hill and up onto the next rise and was about 60 out staring towards the call , i centered him up and squeezed and he came tumbling down the hill, turned call to Pup distress and with in 2 minutes another appears only about 20 yards from were the other came from. This big make charges towards me and i had no time to get a shot or stop him. I stood up when he was about 10 ft from me , he spun and I got him on the run away..Heart was pounding, call the bro down and he did not even hear a shot..
