Default Remington Arms to close after 200 years.

Might be time to put your Remington guns into the collectable pile.

It's just that factory in upstate New York that they're going to close.

New head office is in Georgia.

Still disappointing to see a long running factory close down like that, but what do NY Democrats expect? One of the least friendly States to firearms owners and manufacturers.

Sorry to see this, but a sign of the times. Remington has always had legions of fans, though seemingly not among those who frequent web forums. I've always loved Remington shotguns, my first was an inherited 11-48 that I assume my grandfather took allot of game with. I shot my first 2 grouse with it.

Companies like Mossberg seem fearless with the # of makes/models of shotguns they come up with, some pretty ridiculous. However, even they juggle model #s in their favor, ie, Model 500s had parkerized finishes added and they became 590s at a higher price. (a 590 and a 590A1 have become different guns) Never read any criticism of this, meanwhile, Remington adds an entry level "express" model and the web forum experts sh*t all over it relentlessly. Lots to chuckle about, some of these same owners wouldn't put their wingmasters away wet but complain about corrosion on a cheaper version of the gun when they treat it that way? Yes, some corners were cut but they were being offered at around 1/2 the price.

From what I've seen of the new 870 offerings, they appear to be EXPRESS models at 2/3 the cost of what new Wingmasters used to be. (roughly $800 last time I considered a new pump gun)

Not sure what Remington is focusing on production-wise these days, would appear to be shotguns.

All they are doing is leaving NY and going to Georgia.
If you want a model 7, this is who took over the custom shop, they have model 7 actions for sale, along with all kinds of 700 actions, 40XB actions, etc;
