Default Kimber 8400 classic......... your opinions on this rifle.

I have found myself questioning.........do I pull the trigger and buy another rifle?
I have never owned a kimber but it seems to have everything that I'd like to have.

Here's my questions.....

Do you own or have owned one?
Were you happy with how it shoots?
Any dislikes?

Would you consider it worth the $.

Any advice is appreciated.

I have had two 8400s - 270 wsm Classic Select & 300 wsm Montana - both shot great, just like all the dozen or so Kimbers I have had. They are my favorite rifle.

If I had some money burning a hole in my pocket, this is the gun I'd be buying. You can likely get a better deal than list price. It has been for sale for a while.

It’ll be my next buy I love wood stocks. Caliber will be 280ai 7mm08 or 270 wsm

That's the realistic price. There's a reason this one hasn't moved in a year

What cartridge is this 8400 chambered in.
The 8400 is a great rifle especially the short mags with the short action, Had a 7WSM Montana which was an awesome package. They also came in 25-06, 270, and 30-06 which used the same diameter action but in a magnum long action same as the 7mm mag and 300 mag used. Kimber discontinued the 8400 in standard long action calibers when it came out with the 84L model in those cartridges. The 84L uses the same size action as the 84M just lengthened to allow it to use long action standard cartridges. In those cartridges the 84L is slimmer, lighter and sleeker handling rifle than the 8400. Much more demand for the 84L in those calibers. I had a .270 Classic 8400 long actions, it shot well and had nicer wood than some Superamericas I've seen but traded it off when the 84L's came out which I much prefer.

I've only got/had one 8400 and it’s my .338 win mag. Love the gun but wasn’t fond of the pregnant feel under the action compared to my 84l’s. I put a Pendleton composite stock under her and it’s now very slim feeling. I’ve never held a 8400 chambered in a wsm cartridge so they might be better. Even the factory 8400 in 338 feels much better then any win/rem/ruger/sako/tikka I’ve ever owned. In a standard caliber the 84l is the one you want. If your chasing a .270 wsm this one has beautiful wood.

I ordered my 84l, 30-06 montana from that store last winter. I called him just as I was pulling into the drive through at Tim hortons. He had my info and the deal was closed before I had my coffee. They shipped free, it was delivered two days later and it was well packaged.

I have Classic selects in 270wsm and 308. If it were me I’d get the 84m or the 84l vs the 8400. Its a lighter less bulky rifle. Having said that, there’s a reason I still have my 270wsm. They’re all great choices.

I just picked up the Hunter. Supposedly they are all using the same action (different lengths obviously and barrel, just a different stock. I have barely shot mine but I am really enjoying it. I’m considering one for my son to be honest.

I sure appreciated all the feed back on Kimbers.
I think it's going to find a way into my safe. My decision has just become a lot easier.
Thanks again
