Default Arctic starting to look scary - lowest ice ever

Whatever is happening in the Arctic this winter, is scaring scientists. A new record low for maximum ice extent exits, the highest winter temperatures by far ever recorded, (look at the winter Alberta has), and concern that with a continued El Nino, what will happen this summer. BTW, El Nino is only partially suspected to contribute to this; the Arctic Oscillation is considered to be a larger player.

But it couldn't have anything to do with global warming I bet.

Naaa... that would be buying into those government grant hunting scientists who are all on the take.

Oh, and here is the direct data:

Yes the sky is falling, or has fallen? Big deal .All the taxes in the world won't change a thing .Science can't /won't stop it . The earth warms and cools ,that is what it does and has always done. Next crisis please.

Serreze agrees that the El Niño has something to do with what’s happening in the Arctic. “I think this is more than coincidence. That we have this very strong El Niño at the same time when we have this absurd Arctic warmth. But exactly what the details are on that, I don’t think we can say right now,” he says.

Yeah...more than coincidence. Very strong El Nino and lo and behold warm temps in the Arctic (and Alberta). Wow. Must be CO2.

Scientists are so scared of CO2 that they are now...well, they aren't doing anything really. Just the same old sky is falling newspaper articles. Nobody is or has been doing anything. Even though the world is "scary" and supposedly ending. Still flying all over the world in giant jet planes, still partying on giant luxury yachts, still maintaining more than one house, heating and cooling mansions etc etc etc. It's funny to watch.

Here's an actual thing happening from increased CO2.

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2016/02/1...erts-globally/

Enhanced levels of carbon dioxide are likely cause of global dryland greening, study says

From the “inconvenient truth” department and INDIANA UNIVERSITY:

Enhanced levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide are a likely key driver of global dryland greening, according to a paper published today in the journal Scientific Reports.

The positive trend in vegetation greenness has been observed through satellite images, but the reasons for it had been unclear.

Hurry! Everyone run for the hills...ice is melting and deserts are getting greener! OMG!!!

I am sure that the ice breakers and extra ships that are navagating the Northern Waters are not helping the ice situation.
Yet no one mentions that.

It's from all the polar bears laying on the ice and warming it up with their bellies.

Exactly. Since time began there have been warming and cooling cycles. We may be in a warming cycle.

Time to buy ocean front property at Resolute Bay!

I thought that the term global warming was passé with scientists and climate change is now the correct term to use.

Nope. Don't need to read about "scary" ice melting. The earth is on a cycle. We cant stop it... no need to throw around terms like "scary' or "scared"

Just got to love how may deniers of science exist here on AO. Love you guys for all sorts of things, but how can you accept science in most areas of your lives, and yet the very thing that is staring you in the face, you are blind to.

You want wildlife management by science?

Check.

You want your planes to fly when you get in them safely, as determined by science?

Check.

You want your doctor to use the best available science when you go to him?

Check.

But when it comes to climate, science bashing abounds. It's an interesting phenomena, and not seen since the tobacco industry had produced all the FUD factors trying to discredit the science around bad effects on health.

I see, so in other words, you have no idea what your objecting to, other than it's the program you have been conditioned to.

Try reading them. They are not hard to understand, and like most news articles, written in grade 8 english.

While there is likely some truth in the articles, my question to you is do you believe everything you read and hear?

Pass the Thalidomide.

You're the one denying the science. Read Richard Lindzen's essay. http://euanmearns.com/global-warming...ce-of-science/

The damage believers are doing to science is going to take a very long time to repair.

Just curious. Is it "science" when you think anyone that doesn't believe the same theory as you should be thrown in prison? or accuse them of not following the science? One of the main tenets of science is to allow for questioning and testing of theories. Anyone that questions AGW is shouted down for it. That alone points to the lack of science in the false theory of AGW.

I hate to wade into this pond but here I go.

The Vikings at one time farmed in Greenland where there is now permafrost.
The Bowhead Whales in the western Arctic share DNA with the bowhead whale in the Eastern Arctic which indicates that the north west passage at one time was open as they cannot cross breed at this time.
So at one time not to long ago by geology years the arctic had different climate for a while. As some geologists say we are just between Ice ages, so the sky is not falling only changing.

Sorry Hunterdave, that logic is wrong. Resolute Bay is getting shallower as the land mass is still rising up from the ice sheets being gone. Unfortunately, none of these expert scientists know when this polar uprising will stop and what effects will take place from magma displacement.

What we do know is that: equatorial oceans are on the rise, because of it.

Yet another drive by cut and paste post from the same OP with nothing more to add beyond that than "I'm right, you're wrong, stupid DENIERS!". And yet, we all take the bait every time and indulge him.

When do we hit the collective ignore button?????
