Default Advice from Albertan residents on good public lands would be greatly appreciated!

Hello I'm Alec from Montana. In the last year I have become super obsessed with shed hunting for whitetails and elk.

I've done great with the elk, as Montana is a good one for it, but I've only found six mulies, and only smaller whitetails. From a little over the 70 whitetail sheds I found last spring, I only found a couple matches that reach gross 145" inches. The largest singles were only about 45-50" four points and a few five points, however most sheds were small, thin 3 point sides. Most of my walks were river bottom and coulee walks between 4 and over ten hours.

I'm planning to get out to Alberta to find some dark whitetail sheds, and hopefully some mule deer sheds. I've heard of friends who went to southern alberta and scored big.

Areas I plan to walk, from google maps scouting:

1) The huge public land area on the milk river accessible by highway 501.
2) The public land near ross lake
3) Are the provincial parks legal to walk?

For Naturally Shed Wildlife Parts

In Alberta, naturally shed wildlife parts, such as antlers, can be kept or sold without a special permit, as long as they were found outside of a provincial or national park or other protected area. 1. If you have found a skull, bone, or any other wildlife part that you are hoping to keep, contact the nearest Fish and Wildlife office.
2. If you plan to export naturally shed wildlife parts for sale or otherwise, please check to ensure wildlife laws in the receiving jurisdiction do not require permits or apply restrictions.
