Filled my 2014 general whitetail tag today. Picked up a big track in the snow and cut around a ridge then up a small cut line. He knew I was around but circled back onto trail when he crossed a fresh doe track. The classic male blunder.
I have hung tags on bigger racked deer but this was an old brute of a deer. He was a 5X5 before he busted off a brow tine fighting and was all scarred up with chunks missing from his ears. Probably on the down slope of his stud career but just a huge bodied deer and certainly king of the ridge.
Hard to show the body mass in the photos but his old rounded head sat on a neck like a five gallon pail.

I shot a 6X6 that dressed 219 lbs a few years ago but this bruiser would have kicked his butt. No scales but most guesses put him over 250 dressed.
He won't score high but I love fooling a big old bush buck and he makes a great trophy in my books.
I need a bigger toboggan.
