Default Petition to legalize suppressors in Canada

Could be interesting, petition to legalize suppressors in Canada from
Arnold Viersen
Peace River—Westlock
Conservative Caucus
Alberta. https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/P...tion=441-01612

Unfortunately it looks like it was only a paper petition.

I loved using them to hunt boars in Europe.

There was a petition (e575) about 6 years ago attempting to do the same based on a brief skim over this new one.

When I have more time, I'll read this new one over. I signed the first one. If you look this over, check-out the government's response and who wrote it. Would seem the GoC wants Canadians to believe that the only people interested in a sound moderator are those with criminal intent. Too many 007 movies I think, total lack of understanding about what they do/don't do.

Imagine all the people that move close to a gun range and all of a sudden complain about how noisy it is. Doubt they would think that’s a good idea anyway.

I would leave this alone with the current government. They don’t support firearms ownership and will use it against us

They could easily MANDATE suppressors and have a registration/tax/license regime implemented, to further their goals of confiscation.

FWIW I’m fully in support of suppressor legalization. Just don’t want any thing else done by the current idiots.

Been tried before, and it came crashing down around the organizers ears.

The current government is so anti gun, and believes only what they see in movies and what the anti gun orgs tell them.

Wait this one out till a less hostile government gets in power.

It is still too bad that intelligent options like suppressors exist, but remarkably stupid people sit where the decisions are made.

Default In the name of public safety

We should also ban mufflers on car/trucks so the pedestrians can hear us coming. Same logic.

It is totally futile to propose this with the current anti firearms government.

^I agree 110%, but I think it would still be a great idea to garner support, get signatures, and then have a clear picture in place for when we have a proper government in about 2 years.

Crazy that there are western countries Canada aligns with who not only allow sound moderators, but some places even require them! I guess they're a sensible tool in the hands of the Brits, but render Canadian rifles super dangerous when attached within our borders?

We can't even put one on a pellet gun

I'll sign this petition, and share it around too.

A proper government? Nice try. Those days are long gone never to be seen again. Lol.

They tried to legalize suppressors in Montana for hunting but it was shot down by the democratic governor based on their speculation there would be a huge increase in poaching and other illegal activities. 2 years later the attempt was made agin and the democratic govenor, Steve bullock flipped and said that initial concerns about permitting them proved to be baseless given examples of other states that have allowed their use. As a result since 2016 we have been able to use suppressors to hunt. Of course they must be registered by the atf and all that but it’s a game changer hunting! The recoil reduction and no more ringing ears(hearing damage) is well worth the $200 tax stamp and 9 month wait. They are coming more mainstream every year in Montana. A lot of the concerns are unfounded and based off whisper quiet Hollywood portrayal and people that promote that ideology have no clue about suppressors. My FIL even said he thought it would be quieter when he shot mine.

Agree 100%. As much sense as it makes, it means nothing to the Turd and all the misinformed anti firearms groups in this country. If it was up to the Turd we wouldn't be able own air rifles or Daisy Red Ryders, let alone legalizing suppressors.

Thanks to Hollywood, everyone thinks they are silencers, except the bullet still breaks the sound barrier, military guys who've used them, laugh at the Hollywood stuff in that regard. Cdn gov't of any stripe won't touch that with a 10ft pole.
