7mm stw load
I bought a stw about 10 or 11 years ago and i think they were kinda new to not being a widcat at the time. Anyway ive shot it for this long and found that it shoots OK but not what i would like to see. ive used differnt powders(H1000,reldr22,reldr25) and several differnt bullets and im just not tottaly confident in it. Its a Sako 75 that fitts me good and i want to keep it but i need to get the perfect load for it. Any proven loads for this calibre from experience would be appreciated.

As for load selection, either purchase some manuals or surf the web.
Taking reloading advice from others has many pitfalls.
Afterall all firearms are pretty much entities unto themselves, and load development is not a process that should be circumvented or fast tracked.

I have 2 7STW and load that shoots well in custom gun shoots so so in Sako75 SS.
What Dick said... start from scratch and customize to your rifle.
I am using 140 Barnes TSX, Federal Magnum Match Primer , and H1000
Check loading data start 10% below max.

So many things that can make or brake a load ,,is all about xperimenting ........and thats the fun part...
Mine shot really well with trophy bonded bear claws in federal or Remington
factory ammo ,,, to this date i have not bin able to duplicate that level of accuracy with my loads ...

I have Barnes ttsx 140gr with 82 gr of Rl22. This is over max if I remember correctly. I shoot a Blaser R93 and it is better than the average gun and can handle the extra powder well.

Did you chrony any of those 140's. I am interested in the results. The only 7stw I ever saw was shooting 150 NP's at about 3050fps into minute of barndoor groups. The guy told me how it was a tack driver and after he left we went to hang a target and saw his, it looked like a shotgun pattern.
I had a guy try to sell me one years ago that was a 1/4" gun but he told me how labour intensive his reloading was to get that and then how expensive the gun was so I passed. I like easy to load just under an inch guns.

My rifles delivered 3500fps and honest 1/2" three shot groups at 100 yards. The 140gr mrx resulted in 3500fps and 5/8" groups. At 400 yards,my groups averaged less than 3".I use three shot groups, and count every round fired, with no fliers excluded.I also quote the average groups, not selected groups that only happen every now and then.My groups are fired from a rest and sandbags, with hunting loads, with a hunting scope with a maximum magnification of 9x or 10x.

My group is an average of 3487fps and at 100 yards are 3/4 inch groups and I had a group this year at 300 yards that was 2 and a hald inches which I thought was good for me.

6.5 stw
I load for my brother's 6.5 STW he had built up at Corlane's. I tried IMR 4350, IMR 4831, and couldn't get the accuracy we wanted. Swithed to IMR 7828 and it loves it. Shooting 140 Berger VLDs out of it and it will shoot under 3/4 " consistently. I would try the 7828 as lots of guys I have talked to all use it and have great success with it in the 7 STW.

IMR 7828, 160 grand slam, or 162 hornady's, both have killed a pile of bears and moose, along with some smaller creatures.
Have tried H-1000, works well with 175's. Used RL-22 for 145's.
Good calibre, has served me well for over 15 yrs.
