Hydrogen Peroxide

Hello I was wondering where I could find some 35% hydrogen peroxide at? I can only find the food safe grade stuff and it is very pricey for the amount needed for a few euro mounts

Try using 40 volume developer from a hair salon. I get mine from Sally's and it's what I use.

I tried the 40 volume last year and it just didn’t seem to get it as white as the peroxide can

I dont like my euro mounts white white. I like them with some character. To each their own tho.

Any body else know where to buy some? Don’t really need the 35% just wont to try something stronger then the stuff at drugstores

You need to go to chemical supply firms that sell industrial chemicals. Their is one on 118th ave and 178th street. Also a few in Nisku may have H202 in 35% concentration. You may have to buy larger container. FMC out of Prince George sell 35% peroxide, however usually deliver it in tanker truck loads to pulp mills.

11% is more than you need; as long as you do do things like remove the brains before boiling, do not over-boil, and my top tip, pressure wash it after boiling, anything over 11% is going to damage the skull.

No, you don't need 35% but if you go that route you're doing paperwork for the RCMP. Food grade is completely unrequired.

No it won't, boiling is not advisable, and pressure washing can blow out the fine bones around the eyes and nasal cavity.

If you don't want it perfect then pressure wash away and take your chances.

Sure, you need to be careful around the eyes, and nose, but pressure washing the back of the skull and up inside the nasal cavity is the best way to get it out. I do a lot of skulls every year, all through boiling in a burco boiler, no longer than 20/25 mins a skull. As I said over boiling can damage, providing you do not overboil, boiling is fine. For many people, there are not many other options.

Beetling is the best method. Failing that I'd hang it in a tree and let nature take its course. Or just soak it in water and pick away for days. Boiling can drive oils deeper into the skull and cause it to yellow.

Bleach is all i use. It takes a little longer .
I just wrap the scull in a towel then soak it with bleach and leave it in the garage.
i normal let them sit for a month.

29 or 35% H2o2 is available at any garden centre or any of the grow stores.a common disinfectant for plants.

Basically the same I do. I let is site for at least couple weeks with regular peroxide from drug store. Soak paper towel in perox, wrap with saran....that is after I have "simmered" the skull, picked flesh off it and power washed it. Great finished product. Never ever destroyed anything. Nose cavities clean and intact. I do have to pick some flesh out of the nose with forceps near the end of the process.

Beetling is great, but not accessible to everyone. I can honestly say sticking the jetwasher up inside the nasal cavity has never done any harm to mine, nor boiling properly. There is nothing on display up there just watch the actually nose doesn't pop out, but even that will fit right back in.

To each their own, as long as you are happy with the finished product what does it matter.

Anyone getting into skulls and going the boil and pressure wash route should really look up 'White Bone Creations' YouTube channel

He does everything from birds to bulls and has dozens of good tutorial videos.

He uses the 40 volume developer, acetone to degrease and a product called aqua silk (I haven't looked into it being available in Canada)

His instructions really upped my Euro game

I'm the same way. I boil mine with a bit of oxy clean an they come out perfect.

Right, forgot...u do need to degrease the skull....I just used sunlight and scrubbed it. Then I bleached.
