It was not this spring, but since the subject came up in another thread, I thought I would post my little disaster as well.
It all started when my brother phoned me from a hellicopter, hovering right out in front of my cabin. He said "You HAVE to get out here.....NOW. The waves are beating the snot out of your cabin, it won't last much longer."
This was in the Spring, and it wasn't so much of a Flood, as it was the runoff brought the whole lake level up (Fricken Beavers
). There are abut 5 intlet creeks to this lake, and only one outlet creek.
The pics were taken AFTER I jacked the cabin up about 14" to get it out of the water. When I got there, the water was almost to the top of the floor joices:
Little hard to get a fire started in the pit when I got out there.
Breakwater I had to build in a hurry, just in case the wind came up again and started slamming waves into the cabin again. That stump on the right is normally 15' from the waters edge
I could almost drive the boat right to the cabin door
