Default Having a Tough Day?

Just be thankful you are not one of the muskrats in Central Alberta whose entire winter food supply went to the bottom of the pond last week in the thaw.

Seen muskrats houses torn apart here when we had the cold spell by coyotes ...ice is gone now and pond is 3 ft deep minus rats .

They will perceiver, never saw a rat store food on top of ice and have dealt with lots.

Never seen a rat house, all holes in the bank. Shot many sneaking out of beaver lodges. Any in my dugout dont last long.

Yes, they do build lodges from cattails in 2 - 3 feet of water in sloughs but they won’t sink. Since they eat the roots of the cattails they don’t need a feed bed like beavers do. Maybe what disappeared were push ups. They’re just a bunch of mud and weeds on the top of the ice covering a hole in the ice so it doesn’t freeze over. They use them for breathing and feeding. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me.
