Default Greys fly

anybody a fan?

this season my most used rod has been a greys GRXi 3wt with a streamlite reel and I am VERY impressed with both of them for the price. Both were discontinued so I got them at a steal of a deal, but even before the discount the price is awesome. I sort of regret not picking up the 6wt that was on sale as well...

now I'm torn between building my next rod and buying another Greys

No wonder you like it, Grey's is a division of Hardy and Hardy usually doesn't let their name brand be associated with junk. That may change though, Hardy was just taken over by Pure Fishing and Pure Fishing isn't exactly renowned for maintaining quality in the brands they buy out.

I think I'm going to gamble on the 6 weight. I'm a little unsure as the deal seems to good to be true. $105 includes the 4-piece rod, rod tube/sock, and free shipping from amazon.com

Does Greys honour a warranty on their rods?

I think you'll be quite pleased for that price. Better than similar priced TFO.

not sure about their warranty, never had a problem. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have a great warranty and customer service though.

At the end of the day it'll be used as a backup rod, it's worth a shot if it only costs $100. That kind of money doesn't get you much in the fly fishing world anymore.

Glad you like your 3wt, that gives me some confidence. I should have the rod sometime this week, should be able to post a review by the weekend. Hopefully I can hook into that 5lb brownie I lost this spring, that should be a good enough test haha

I haven't used one myself, but a guy that I fish with quite often, has 2 Grey's combos and they are about all he uses. He loves them.

I was looking for an inexpensive 3weight rod and was recommended the GR50.
It is a little faster than I am use to but I do believe I have it under control now.
A nice rod for the price.

Got the rod yesterday and did some casts in the backyard, it's definitely a fast action rod lol.Going to take some getting used to

Looks like a really decent quality and has a lifetime warranty, can't go wrong! Good value rod all around. I can see this company taking off in Canada, better quality than the 6 weight amundson that I had as a backup
