Marshmallows are probably the best coon bait there is. They go crazy for them.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but when is the best time to trap raccoons? Always just trapped them as nuisance never to sell or use the fur.

Coon very prime by dec 1, but often sleeping by then. Mid nov coon look ok, leather whitening up. If you can get them in march you can get some stunning coon, extra heavy western Canadian coon are the most impressive of coon in my books. Problem with springiness and scratch necks amongst the selects tho in the late season coon. Trap them as soon as they start coming out of the den.

Any coyote set will pick up coon as incidentals. Sweet lure will increase effectiveness, but the very best lure and bait is fresh fish based.

And for the un-initiated, do not turn coon on your stretchers. Stretch hide out and create a small inspection window on the belly. I like wire stretched coon the most unless a guy has proper thin wood stretchers and everything pinned nice.
