We got my rifle back from the gunsmith and looks like the caliber is 25 x 6.5 rem mag or reverse. Anyone knows anything about this or I should just get a 6.5 rem mag rebarrelled job.

The gun was a mauser 98, parkerized by Parker hale, then rebarrelled by the dad of a friend who never finished the job, too busy. We found out the caliber tonight so any inputs will help.

A 25 caliber on 6.5 Rem Mag should be the ballistic equivalent of 25-06. Only advantage to 25/6.5 RM is a short action magazine rifle. If its a 1:10 twist barrel it should stabilize up to 120 gr bullets. Load date should be in the P.O. Ackley handbooks.

Like most wildcats they are fun to play with but there is usually a factory standard round as good or better. It might be difficult finding brass for the 6.5 Rem Mag.

CH-4D would make them if they don't have them in stock. CH-4D lists a huge reloading die selection. Check Redding and RCBS lists for them. If you need custom dies made Whidden Gunworks will custom make them for $275.00.

I looked for load data in Ackley's books but didn't find any. Case capacity for the 26-06, 25-284, and the 25-6.5 RM should be fairly close.

Had one built on a Ruger M77 Tang Safety Lightweight... The Gunsmith that did the chamber called it a 257 Dynamo... Was a 25x6.5 Rem Mag though..

Perfect 25 on a short action... Guessing the mauser is not a short action though. LOL...

Neat wild cat...
