Default Tactacam reveal x-pro problem

I have a brand new x-pro that quit sending me pictures. I bought a rechargeable battery and solar panel as I just assumed the battery was dead. It will not turn on to even view the display screen, but there is a green light that continuously blinks though. Anybody else encounter this?

I’ve reached out to tactacam but haven’t heard back, so I thought I’d try the forum as well.

Are you using the recommended SD card? When I contacted Tactacam the first thing they asked was which brand and spec of SD card I was using, and mine wasn’t “approved”. Once I switched the card I was good to go.

Not saying this is your issue, but I can almost guarantee the first question you’ll be asked is about the SD card.

Owners Manuals are a great tool
https://tactacam.zendesk.com/hc/en-u...20040507720219

SETTING UP THE CAMERA
QUICK START GUIDE
1. Install camera’s antenna.
• Note: Do not over tighten the antenna, once it is secure stop tightening to prevent
antenna port damage.
2. Install a Class 10 U3 SD card (32GB).
• Recommended brands are: SanDisk, Lexar and Tactacam
3. Install 12 AA batteries.
• To eject the battery tray, press the EJECT button on the REVEAL. When inserting
AA batteries correctly orientate + and - on the front and back of the tray.
• See battery details on page 14 under Best Practices.
SIM Card
For cameras with a single SIM, the card may or may not be pre-installed. Cameras
packaged with two SIMs allow you to select a carrier that works strongest in the
area of your camera’s location. NOTE: SIM cards are exclusively paired to a camera
at the time of manufacture, so please do not remove, swap, or replace with a
different SIM card.
Activation of your camera can be done conveniently through the REVEAL mobile
app during setup.

CAMERA STOPS TAKING IMAGES OR WON’T TAKE IMAGES

1. Make sure that the SD card is not full. If the SD card is full, the camera
will stop taking images. Users can turn on SD Loop to avoid such
problems. This will cause the SD card to overwrite older images.
2. Make sure that alkaline or NiMH-AA batteries have enough power for the
camera to work.
3. Format the SD card with the camera before using or when the camera
stops taking images.

Ya I’m using tactacam sd card. Followed instructions as per manual. It’s been working fine since September. It quit during this cold snap and that’s when I ordered the rechargeable battery. It’s fully charged and still same issue. I have a feeling I may have a dud.

That sucks. I presume you have reformatted the SD card just in case. If so, I guess you get to see how good Tatacam stands behind their warranty. Let us know how you make out.

i run the model down from the Pro and the only time i have had issues with transmitting was when a bear bit my antenna off and when my batteries froze in that past deep freeze we just had.
maybe double check that your antenna is ok including where it attaches in to the camera, then verify your settings on the app, including checking to see that the reveal wifi can transmit to your phone through the set up option (i need to use this to aim my camera because it doesnt have the preview screen on it)

Default Update

Well I have to give a 5 star rating to tactacam. Sent them an email with the problem. Had an email response the next day with “how to” fix. Didn’t get around to it for a day and they sent me another email just to check in as to whether the issue was resolved.

They instructed to format the SD card and download an update firmware onto the SD card and reinstall. Voila, problem resolved and back in business.

Needless to say I’m a happy tactacam customer.

Yes their customer care is great.

I have 2 earlier units, before the 2.0, and one just started to eat AA’s in 1-2 mo as compared to in 5-6 mo like it used to.
Second cam is doing fine.

Customer care did their best to help troubleshoot and even offered a trade-up.
But shipping to US and all, I’ll likely just retire the one camera a buy another.

Why not set up an external power source. Just a quick check on line shows a few options for external power choices. I run a few of my cams with external power and I am adding more every year. One 12v 10ah lithium will last at least half a year or more.

Cheers

That is my next step for sure.
Since I already have my annual plan paid for on this cam, nothing to lose.
It'll save me the cost of a new cam.
I’ll wait on a sale for that, no hurry.

Likely a spare auto battery or lead cell and solar panel.
As cam will be on its usual post on a cross fence, our best deer traffic route.
Very little chance for a bear to mess with the cords etc.
