Hi All;

Anyone been on Spray Lake recently? Looking for an update on ice thickness for safety.

Thanks,

Beware early ice at Spray. Drill plenty of test holes.

A few years ago we headed to Spray in -36 in the early season. Arrived on the ice and drilled a test hole just off shore; 6-8" good ice for about a dozen holes on our way to a one of our numbered spots. Stopped drilling holes, walked to our spot in 80+ feet of water.

Auger turned a few times and dropped into water, 2-3" of ice in that spot we intended on fishing. Falling though the ice in -36, in 80FOW, about a kilometer from the truck - that could've been a bad day!
