Default Camlock file?

Is there a file that I can buy to create teeth on my camlocks that doesn't cost $55 like Halford's sells?

You're looking for a checkering file if that helps. Good quality files aren't cheap.

I wouldn't think so. It's a specialty file.

They actually look like a bargain these days. Halfords has them for $55 but Brownells in the USA has them for $55 USD. Must be old stock?

If you don't want to buy a file, then use the Lightning Lock.

Yeah, I bought some snares in Montana on super sale a couple of years ago just getting started, then realized the locks didn't have teeth, so never used them. Just trying to put them to work. I wouldn't buy them again. I used a pencil thin file I had and put some teeth in them last night one line at a time. Took me a while to do the dozen but now they grab better, and I don't have to buy the file going forward.

Has anyone ever tried a "thread restorer file" from princess auto?
they are significantly cheaper than a checkering file ($16).
