Edmonton Area - Willing to lend a scope mounting/lapping kit?
Hi All, I've got some bases to change out and one other scope to re-mount. Anyone around town have a mounting kit and/or lapping bars they'd be willing to lend or help me out? Drop me a DM.

Does cabela's even lap scope mounts? Either way be wary of letting Cabela's mount your scope. Every time they mounted a scope for me I had to redo it.

I have fixed a few guns bought from the south side store that friends had bought and i guarantee none where lapped.Just a basic mount from what i have seen. I have always mounted my own and its really not that hard and i am surprised how many shy away from doing their own mounting. If your going to have anyone mount a scope in edmonton i would use P&D or better yet buy a lap set from them and be set forever.
To the OP sorry i would have you over to use my set but its the middle of hunting season so spare time is short and im old school about loaning out my tools.

Please don't. I had them mount 1 scope 7 years ago. Never again. They completely over torqued the rings and wrecked the scope tube. I'm not talking about a few ring marks either. Also, If you just remove the bolt and point the bore at the target at 100 yards, then dial your scope, you'll get on paper just as easy as bore sighting.

Would you ever do something you were good at for $15/hr?

P&D will also do it, I think for $25 if you didn’t buy it there but I bet it’s done right.

Do it yourself, or at least be actively participating. It needs to be set in the rifle to you, not just dropped in the rings. Such a small movement of even 1/4" can change the way it feels in your hands and go from uncomfortable and awkward to easy shooting and accurate.

Thanks to a very nice AO member I have a professionally machined lapping and alignment set of my very own. If anyone else is looking, I’m happy to lend mine or help install a scope.
