Default Firearm cleaning supplies

Today at trap a few friends were discussing firearm reloading components and cleaning supplies.
As we all know primers and powders are either scarce or more expensive than we are used to.

More importantly was discuss cleaning products. How certain ones were not available or ridiculously expensive.

I'm curious if anyone has turned to alternatives? Other than labeled firearm cleaning?

Oils, solvents etc...

Anyone have good results with alternatives?
Cheers 360hunt

For shotgun build some Ed’s Red.
https://www.majorsgunclub.org/edsred.html

Then for a rust preventative and general lubricant( to about -10C) 0w20 synthetic motor oil.
For colder temps use 0w20 synthetic cut with 1/4 Coleman fuel(do this outside)
Or just run dry and lube with dry graphite.

In basic training we used carb cleaner to clean our A2s. Once in we used 30w motor oil on our 50cals. Now I use Outters oil and solvent for everything with the odd use of wipeout.

The one product that I use regularly that is much more difficult to find, is G-96 Gun Treatment. It used to be easy to find the large cans at many locations, but now very few places carry it, and usually only in small cans that cost way more than I used to pay for the much larger cans.
