Seams like too good of a description for me to think it’s stolen. If it is hot, it must be getting sold by another fisherman.

I sent the poster a message asking to view one of the item but requested we meet at the local RCMP station to conduct the sale, we will see if they reply

Doesn't seem that low... could be fairly worn gear or maybe he's working at a shop/ pro staff and unloading gear to buy more.

Sure, I wouldn't mind the checking out Sage Launch for a back up rod. Just because it seems to good to be true, it doesn't always mean its stolen. I still have not gotten a reply though.

I doubt it's stolen gear. The post is too detailed and fly fishing related for a thief to put together.

All FF types are not honest.

Seems to clean to be a degenerate, I bet they're requesting EMTs only and will rip you off.

Despite my suspicions, I emailed him to see if I could purchase and have him ship. He was willing to ship if I paid by EMT but not by PayPal. Interestingly enough, some of the low prices he had up there have since been increased.

And what does that have to do with it? I legitimately was interested in the rod unless it was in poor condition or if the seller gave me suspicion that the rod was stolen.

I sell a lot of stuff on Kijiji and if I had anyone ask to complete the sale at the cop shop I wouldn’t reply either. If you can’t come to my house to get it or want to act like your dealing with a criminal I’m not wasting my time. “Most” people on Kijiji are normal, it gets weird when one party makes it that way, IMO that’s a weird request.

Default Net

Contacted this fellow about the Fishpond net.
He got back to me the next day, and said it was one of the first items sold.

I wouldn’t have replied to you either. It was a weird request and I wouldn’t have wasted my time.

I also wouldn’t take PayPal as a form of payment either. There are way too many scams out there involving PayPal and I’m actually surprised anyone uses it anymore.

It’s cash in person or EMT with shipping on your dime unless we work it into the deal.

This is just being naive.

You’re right, most people are good. However, it just takes one to case out your place when they come pick up an item, and rob you when you’re not home.
Any money says your sale procedure would change

I agree that requesting to complete the sale at the cop shop has negative implications.
a) I would have arranged the meeting, then not shown up. Hahaha!
Then, when he contacted me about missing the meeting, I would apologize and schedule another meeting.
Repeat a). Hahaha!
I do, however, feel that meeting at a neutral location (shopping mall, for example) is prudent, for the reasons mentioned in earlier posts.

I’ve easily done 1500+ Kijiji transactions. 99+% were at our houses and the few that weren’t were because of simplicity meeting somewhere else. If people want to B&E they will. Lining up a Kijiji’s deal so they can stand on my porch to decide they need to hit my house is rediculous. Maybe I can read the BS in the original response to my add or maybe I’m just really lucky but I’m not going to start worrying about being robbed like that.

I don't see this ad as a scam.

I've purchased and sold a number of items (fly fishing related and other) in person at other peoples homes and my own with no negative situations beyond a few no shows.

After meeting lots of good folks I won't hesitate to continue doing so.

The few parking lot situations ( on sellers request) generally felt sleazy and similar to a drug deal.

My only "rule" is not give out address unless the buyer is on the way to my home.

Have also done a few emt transactions purchasing and selling and though I was a little hesitant about sending money they worked out.

Maybe I'm too trusting or naive but will to continue to have some faith that there are still good people out there.

If someone wants to break in to my house the only thing of any value that can't be replaced is a guitar or two, some fly fishing art and stuff and my dogs. Oh ....and my wife.
