Default I Have Problems!!!

hey all, on my (right hand) recurve the arrows are showing a clear nock left flight, that means to weak a spine correct? I understand that can be corrected by getting a stiffer arrow, shortening the arrow, getting a lighter head, making the brace height longer, or making the side plate thicker. I don't want to buy new arrows so that option is out, they are as short as I want them so that's out, i am already shooting a 100gr head don't want to go lighter then that, I have the brace height where it is shooting the smoothest so I don't want to change it. So the only option I know of that's left is to make the side plate thicker, on the web there seems to be a lot of controversy about that though. most people say its best to have it as thin as possible, while others say that if your arrows are weak move it out, so which way is it?

I'm not a whiz with arrows or tuning but im wondering if your arrows are stiff. I shot 400's out of a 60 lbs compound at 28.5 and I found them to be perfect. Obviously a compound is a different beast than a recurve so maybe I'm wrong.

Get some heavy heads, 250 / 300 and see if they will fly better.

That's a cheaper option than new shafts. More foc also if it works out

no, because I am using a finger release the general advice on the web is to bare shaft tune instead of paper tuning.

Default Lots of things to try.

Try Moving the brace height first. Easy and requires zero mod. Beware of false results move beyond where you think it's working (within limits). So you are sure. One twist at a time.

Strike plate is relatively easy. That would be next.

I'm in agreement with peteW. Try heavier BHs. The bow will likely go from quiet to a silent breath of death. I have a noisy high performance LB that did this exactly.

Default Arrows

They are to stiff for sure especially @ 28" and putting on 2 or 300 grains can only help so much but then they will drop off fast. I have about 7-8 bows, always selling then buying another, they range in weight between 42-51 pounds. I use GT traditional in 500 spine at 29.5-30.5" and they fly very well. I use mostly 125 grain points, you were probably looking at a compound arrow selection chart, they tend to suggest heavier than needed.
Traditional bows don't have as much center shot so they need to bend around the riser. Good luck

Thing to remember a recurve and compound are like day n night for tuning ...although both have same basics...

In Short...

I would suggest trying as Pete suggested...points are much cheaper than dozen arrows...not much to lose but lots to gain...dont worry bout trajectory, speed etc with the recurve most dont shoot past 30 yards and/or 40 yards most...
so adding that weight is going to be neglectable at those distances 20-30 yds...
