Any good surface action on the Bow?
I was there yesterday and tuesday and nothing good came to the surface where I was but the signs are there. Big fat stones skittering everywhere and of course the caddis are out.

Nothing of interest rose tonight but the nymph action was hot and heavy as usual. Maybe the river is a bit to dirty or high still?

I was on the river in the NW at sundown.
Very little insect activity. Mostly terrestrials (lacewings) and mosquitos.
River is very high and visibility is poor.

New to the Bow
Hey guys, sorry for bumping into your conversion here. But figured you guys would be the best to ask this kind of stuff.
I am new to town (lived Fort Mc before coming here). I tried all my tackle on the bow today (around 9am, then again around 5pm) ...unsuccessfully.
I've tried so far:
Sinking Rapalas (2-3 ")
Spinners
Spoons
Pickerel Rigs (which wouldn't stick due to high current, and then some1 pointed to me that bait isn't allowed in the river) [which is what I'm used to on the Athabasca River]
Just looking for some advise, and maybe a few spots in town where the current isn't as strong (although i know some people would rather keep them secret, no worries, no offense taken).

Use the search function and type in "bow river".
Read through the threads.
Everything you're asking and a whole lot more.

A bunch of fish caught today from the boat. If you're 3 feet from the bank you're 2 feet too far. Landed 2 Browns that taped out at 22" One male and one female. A dozen or so that were 18 - 20. Pulled the fly away from at least another dozen. Maybe more. All but 1 were dry.

if your paying..WAIT............ only my opinion.
was on a guided trip this saturday . floated from police to carseland took 7 hrs. pretty quick as the river is still fast and high and were the highwood meets the bow is pushing in very dirty water.
grabbed on to 6 rainbows and 1 brown nothing off big size everything was off pin point casting in to the banks all my fish were caught from police to mc kinnon did not catch anything from mc kinnons to caresland weir..
i personaly would have waited until august to pay for this trip as the advice from my guide was not the greatest for the river conditions.
learn from my mistakes....
pricey lesson to learn..............................later
