Sk has a wolf season now in the more central and northern zones. Never went before ever, do you guys call , hunt over baits or shoot them when driving around ?

All of the above, but most are incidentals. Of the accomplished AO wolf hunters: Cowmanbob has cattle (surprise), popcan put up an epic thread about his bait hunts, nube trapped a bunch, speckle calls them in.

Locating them is the hardest part. You need fresh intel and the ability to go ASAP when you get it. They might travel 50 miles in 24 hours, and mostly in the dark.

If you hear howls, howl back. Elk calf or moose calls work as well.

You forgot Running Bear, has a very impressive total and the ability to shoot them at long distance. Quite a few of mine are incidentals, but I'm cool with that.

A few years back, two contracted wolf hunters in BC took out 170 wolves in one winter with snares, traps, rifle and yes needed help of baits lased with sleeping pills.

Its just nice to see some guys putting a good dent into them. It sure helps if you can clean up half a pack or more at a time.
I'm really going to be interested on what things look like on my trapline after hitting it hard for a few years now. Last year I was seeing very positive things so I got my fingers crossed.

I am in BC.... thought all of your wolves moved here! Not enough wolf hunters out here, and they are having an impact on our dinner hunting! I go out once in a while after the deer season ends, and have called (much to my surprise) a couple of wolves, when all I thought was around were coyotes.

It should be obvious how wolves need to be controlled, and all of us hunters need to take one out when they have an opportunity to do so. just watched this youtube on their affect on the ungulate populations in the US, which also reconfirms what is happening here as well. Good info for those that may not understand what happens with these predators when they are left unchecked.

A couple of other fellows deserve a mention as well.

Redfrog helped take down a lot of wolves before eye problems sidelined him.

Past AO member huntin took over where redfrog left off. actually huntin was knocking down wolves long before I met either gentleman. But he went professional about the time redfrog had his first eye surgery.

I don't have the numbers but I've seen more then a few photos of their wolf kills.
