Why are you considering the diesel specifically if I may ask? Many of the other manufacturers' gas offerings come very close to the Cummins XD's towing/hauling capabilities. The only thing is the Titan feels more planted and controlled with a load due to its weight from the reviews I've seen. I know a guy with the gas half-ton, he seems to like it.

Consumer Report will be your friend. Impartial. They pay for the vehicles they test. They give true long term reliability ratings.

A buddy had one and last winter he had a lot of problems with the DEF tank freezing.
The dealer had several in for that same problem.
After that and other problems with it he got rid of it.

Default Rode in one last week

Rode in a buddy’s 2016 or 2017 Titan XD last week. It was a crew cab with what looked like about a 6 ft box. Very nice truck, but the engine noise seems a little bit more than in my ‘13 F350 with 6.7 diesel. That surprised me (but I don’t mind engine noise from a diesel - it’s natural). The other thing I noticed was that the turning radius seemed abysmal. My crew cab long box turns way tighter and I compared the trucks side by side - the Ford looks to be about 18” maybe 20” longer than the Nissan. I didn’t drive it mind you, but in parking lots it was a struggle to get it parked. My Ford is usually just a struggle because it’s so long, not because it won’t turn. Highway ride goes to the Titan hands down (but I don’t own a truck for ride, I own it for pulling upwards of 15000 pounds when hauling bales, which I don’t think the Titan is built for).
