Default Santa relocating to South Pole

If our rediculous government couldn't embarrass us any further, a federal department has announced that, due to global warming, Santa has made an agreement with the "International Community" to relocate to the South Pole.
You can't make this stuff up.....what next?

I tried to add the link but couldn't.
Canadians are becoming a laughing stock under this clown.

Merry Christmas.

When Santa chimes in, you know that the science of climate change is indeed settled.

Who we are
Policy Horizons Canada, also referred to as Horizons, is an organization within the federal public service that conducts strategic foresight on cross-cutting issues that informs public servants today about the possible public policy implications over the next 10-15 years.

Horizons' mandate is to identify emerging policy issues and explore policy challenges and opportunities for Canada, as well as to help build foresight literacy and capacity across the Government of Canada. Horizons’ experienced futurists provide expert advice on emerging issues, foresight and scanning through one-on-one discussions, interdepartmental meetings, and facilitated workshops. All engagement requests are discussed collaboratively at the Horizons’ senior management table on a weekly basis. To engage with Horizons, please submit your request to questions@horizons.gc.ca.

Policy Horizons Canada is governed by the Deputy Ministers' Steering Committee.

Vision: To promote a high and sustainable quality of life within a globally competitive Canada, through the co-creation and advancement of knowledge that informs and structures policy choices for the Government of Canada by way of an integrated and longer-term perspective.

Mission: To provide timely and integrated perspectives on emerging policy issues for the Deputy Minister community by: bridging people, ideas, data, issues and evidence in an open and constructive environment; co-creating knowledge for understanding complex Canadian policy challenges; and experimenting with new tools and methods.

Team
We recognize public service organizations are faced with many short-term priorities. It can therefore be challenging to consider and address longer-term policy issues. We exist as a hub for collaboration on emerging policy issues and challenges.

We are knowledgeable and dedicated people from diverse backgrounds. Our mantra is anticipate, experiment and explore. Under this mantra, we apply our expertise and take on different roles and responsibilities.

Given their staunch belief in Santa ... I can see a group with real concerns. Bottom line is Santa will decide, it’s his workshop and herd. I heard he is retiring the team, accepting only on-line letters from kids, and negotiating deliveries through Amazon. Will it really make ny difference if he is based at the South Pole? Cyber rates are cheaper and no minimum wage legislation for the Elves.

They are setting the groundwork for changes to international policy as outlined by this statement from the Policy Horizons Canada website:
Quote:
“Santa’s relocation agreement marks the first time that the international community agrees on a common legal definition of climate change that includes refugees as corporations, as well as individuals,” the website said. "This deal is expected to lead to the deployment of a global climate change refugee visa system that in the near future could help to more easily relocate individuals and corporations facing the impacts of climate change.”
Ideas and policy brought to you by well meaning people, with good intentions, who supplicate themselves before the church of celebrity.

please, please, be satire. Perhaps a Christmas joke. A future funny ha ha.

If this is a serious bit of government business then we are in big trouble based on principal. What organization has 6 Senior Policy Researchers and only one “lonely” policy researcher? For now I am going to think this is a joke as it is hard to take this website seriously ... unless it is not.

1. Judging by the post history, someone was having a few minutes of fun before their Christmas break. Things go from serious pieces about tech futures and emerging natural gas markets to 10 minutes of Santa themed stuff at the end of the day on the 19th.

2. Senior policy analyst seems to be the default position. Judging by resumes, most people don't get hired at Horizons without a decade or more or academic or industry experience. The lone non-senior analyst is completing her master's.

3. More saddening than any government initiative is that people see a blog post about Santa and immediately assume it's some sort of social-engineering scheme rather than someone trying to inject some holiday joy into their workplace.

For those who believe in Santa this is a serious story. Typically the Grade 2’s spill the beans but...
