Default Many Fox in Alberta ?

Here in my part of Western NY State we have a few of them. The Coyotes are starting to show up more & more though.

Default foxes

Tim - every time I catch one, I'm surprised. We hardly ever see them, but there are a few out there. Something I've noticed is that when it gets real cold, I don't catch any foxes, they seem to hole up or something. The opposite is true of coyotes, cold weather gets them out and running.

Default Re: foxes

The fox populations are virtually the inverse of coyote numbers. In similar fashion, wolves will not tolerate coyotes in thier nieghbourhood. Coyote numbers in Alberta are higher. Unfortunately the fox falls onto most varmint hunters list, so when the coyote numbers are reduced, the fox numbers follow.
