I am only standing now but don’t typically put much time into it at once. I’d like to get a stool for adding some sitting breaks but I do much prefer the standing over sitting in an office chair.

Voted semi standing. My loading is done at a high bench so I can work standing or seated on a bar stool.

I have an old piano bench I use. That way the wife can sit too but it’s easy to move along my bench for when I’m charging cases or pressing bullets. Also holds odd things when I’m standing and prepping brass, acts like a second table. I do have a taller swivel stool now but I usually use the piano bench.

For me it depends on what I'm doing. Using the press or using the scale and filling the brass, I'm standing. Everything else, I have a little folding stool with a back. Typically I don't load a whole bunch at a time, 20-30.

Too crippled up to stand for long. So have two chairs one on rollers when doing repairs and light work so I can roll between stations... one older (taller) office swivel chair for doing reloading or work that requires some more "brute" force.

Mounting scopes or the like I stand.

None fit. I operate the press standing up and the bench the presses are mounted to is just over waist high.. Trimming brass, priming, charging cases and everything else I do sitting down in an office chair at a separate lower bench.

I have two pretty solid tables and I sit on the left side of the seam between the tables. Press is on the left corner of the right table. Chargemaster is on the left table.

As the chargemaster is weighing, I seat the bullet of the previously charged round.

I use two tables because the press wiggles the table just enough to drop extra kernels in when the chargemaster has finished weighing its charge.

Im always leaning forward, cant see how a fullback office chair would do me much good but the swivel feature would be nice!

I normally stand for all of my hand loading but will likely start sitting on a tall stool in the future for some of it.

I’ve got a high bench with bar stools, when I load it’s usually for a few hours so I need the seat, my knee still swells up bad from standing in one place for too long. Plus I usually put Netflix on the computer and make a quiet evening out of it.

Thanks to all that replied or voted.

I have been studying how to improve loading workstation ergonomics and design.
My research and experiments indicate there is a wide variety of personal preference for bench and press mounting height;
most seem to result from choice of standing or seated, and chair height.

I suspected most prefer to work seated, but was surprised that swivel on rollers was typical.
Do you swivel on rollers folks notice that a non-solid chair limits force and feel of the press?
Some people claim a large exercise ball used as a desk seat is good to maintain core strength.

The poll questions were somewhat arbitrary, and were chosen to provide some indication of typical working styles and to stimulate discussion, (multiple answers allowed). A better title might be more helpful, and/or a thread more specifically addressing ergonomics.
Comments are helpful, and suggestions are welcome.

Good Luck, YMMV.

A couple of things to consider: Don't put your scale on the same bench as your press if you can avoid it. Long jobs are best done sitting down, jobs like sizing brass best done standing where you get some leverage. I have two surfaces for loading, one lower for seated jobs, one higher for standing jobs and press work. That way you have the choice of stand or sit for various activities. Cleaning and repairs are done at a separate bench to any loading activities.
