Default MeatEater weatherby vanguard 2 thoughts?

Looking at purchasing a .308 meateater edition vanguard for what I think is a decent price. Anyone out here have any real world experience with this rifle and have any thoughts? It would be my first “higher end” rifle that I own, everything else has been cheaper prebuilt rifle/scope packages. Just wondering if I’m wasting my time here. Couple things I liked were how light it felt compared to my rifles and the fact it had a factory threaded barrel so I can easily add a muzzle brake down the road (I believe lol)

I have a vanguard (allegedly, in case it gets banned tomorrow) and I am more than happy with it.
I don't see any need for a brake on a .308, but if it makes you happy, brake on brother.

The Meateater is light, but with the thin barrel, they can be quite fussy. I worked with one in 7mmremmag just recently, three out of four loads shot very poorly, 2-3 moa, but the fourth load was sub moa. Overall, it is a good rifle, but it may take a few loads to find one that it likes.

Nothing wrong with the vangard 2. Its a good rifle.

The meateater part is just fluff. But the rifle is just fine.

You could have that rifle for a lifetime. Nice choice.

Does anyone here know if it can be converted to accept external magazines? That’s the only draw back I can see is the internal magazine only.

I have a weatherby vanguard sub-moa chambered in 300wby and have had this rifle for close to 20yrs. It has been an excellent, very accurate rifle.
It is still my "go to" rifle come hunting season

I have a Vanguard Ibex in 30-06. Very smooth action, decent trigger, stainless fluted heavy barrel, no brake. Shoots sub moa. Great rifle.
I'd recommend this model over a sporter barrel.
