Default Pistol shooting eye problem??

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but I am a little stumped as tp what to do about it.

Had cataract surgery recently and can see fantastic from about 3 feet out to any distance, but need reading glasses for that 0 to 3 feet.

THE ISSUE: now when I go to the range with my handguns, I can't see the gun sights good enough, but can see the target clear. Or vice versa, when I put on the specially made bifocals the optometrist said would fix this, then I can see the handgun sights, but not the target!!

Any suggestions, this is driving me crazy and can't hit a d_m thing!

Default Handguns

You could mount a scope on it, I had exactly the same problem last Friday shooting handguns.

I had the same issue, need reading glasses to see the sights then the target is blurry, no glasses then the sights are blurry but can see the target. Solution was reading contacts works great and now I can shoot my old 30-30 too

I can't wear contacts period. A fellow AO'er PM'ed me with a thread on Canadian Gun Nuts about this.

Lots of ideas there I might try. Thanks.

Id contact the shooters optomitrist, I heard a story in which he made a set of glasses normal on one side and presciption on the other, so that you could shoot open eyed and have both focused, but you wouldnt want to wear them for more then a hour at a time

A black front blade is worse than any other sight for this problem, in my opinion. A painted white dot or replacement with a fibre optic won't solve the problem but it may help it.
