Default Skunk Trapping

Here's two videos of a skunk I found building a nest near the chicken coop. I was told a skunk can't spray when in a small trap like this. This skunk had no troubles spraying when I approached it. Is there any way to prevent them from spraying while disposing of them?

I personally have never tryed this but my father told me that they cant spray if the trap is low enough to stop them from lifting their tail, kinda makes sense but have no proof lol,,,good luck

Maybe this skunk was an exception or the trap was too big because it laid on its side and let loose as I walked up to move the trap. Didn't hit me direct, but enough that my wife wouldn't let me in the house without stripping.
I noticed I have a few more to trap so I'll try again.

:live trapped skunks several times. the way i let them out is tie a long piece of rope to the loop you use to open the trap door. when theres a skunk caught simply pull it trap door opens skunk goes out ta da!! (then he raids your chicken coop again)

Use an old blanket or sheet and walk up hiding behind it...using it as a shield. Move slowly...and lay the ablanket over the trap.....pick up the trap and take it to the nearest water and drop the trap in. Tie a rope to the trap if necesaary.

I have actually put plastic sides on my traps so they can't see out too well and once covered, have put the traps on the front of my quad and driven them out to my dugout....a coupla hundred yards from the house.
