Default Outriggers for a kayak

Just received a new kayak for Christmas and was thinking of installing outriggers for stability. I have found a couple of different outriggers on-line, one set from Scotty that are inflatable. The other ones are made of foam and use the Scotty bases. My question is has anyone used either type or have any recommendations. Thank you in advance Russ C.

What model kayak? I have an OK Trident 13 and have thought a couple times about adding outriggers but have never actually done it.

I suggest that you take your new kayak out a few times - and then decide if you need the extra stability outriggers provide. Newbies biggest fear seems to be that kayaks are too 'tippy', but usually find that a modern kayak - especially a fishing kayak, is actually quite stable.
Outriggers can get in the way and be a real PITA.

Instalked Outriggers on my canoe. I can stand up and cast. Might tilt 10 degrees. Also installed electric motor. Cruise 2.5hrs at 4miles hr. Cover a whole lake. Take two batteries can do 5 hrs.

Lotsa U-Tube stuff on making your own. Made my own on the cheap from PVC pipe. Works great and really simple to fabricate up.
