Find a farmer that has pigeon in his yard, ask if you can shoot and you will have few to use with your dog

I contacted these guys last year and she told me that they didn't have birds, it was pretty abrupt and didn't say anything else...sooo, not sure if something happened, or just having a bad day.

There used to be a guy east of Calgary, but it looks like he's out of business now too. There's a place in Nanton by the name Mosquito River? or something like that. But I've never been there and can't comment on the quality

Go at night to one of the urban pigeon roosts in Edmonton or active farmyards near the city and pick a few by hand. I would bet that a few buildings in the city would allow you to put a live trap on their roof too.

Default Thanks Dean

Yes we still raise chukars and pheasants but Edmonton to Langdon is a long haul for training birds. Start with pigeons (dead or fresh for puppies) as has been noted here and many people save and train with frozen pheasants chukars and even ducks. Only time I have to use live birds is for pointers and I use traps and radio controlled releases to make sure I get a solid point or dont release the bird. Guess it depends what you are training and at what stage and type of dog.
