What makes a twist rate too fast? What are the symptoms? What happens?

That’s what im asking, i know that the faster twist is really for the bigger bullets but would the 160 be considered on the small side for a 28 nosler with the 1:8, last years model was a 1:9 twist

You will be fine and good luck on the hunt coming up.160 to 180 is good,i wouldn't go any lower, but that's just my opinion .The 168 lrab may work well along with the 180 to 195 bergers when you get back.

There ya go, AO members to the rescue.
But I think Marky is right, I would definitly be using a rifle I have a bit of history with myself.

I also think Marky is right,if you have another rifle that shoots well I would go with the one that I have some trigger time on and go knock over a couple elk.and then take your time for the break in part of your new rifle which you don't want to over do it and not be ready .Just my 2 cents and go enjoy your hunt.First day of a new rifle can be a real nut buster when your in a hurry.
Very nice of 260 rem to post this info when a guy is in a pinch, good for you 260.

I need to take two guys as I’m sure you all do. My 300 will be the daily gun but if something happens to it I gotta make sure the back up is good to go. The other option I have available is a 25-06 and I’d rather not use that. Thanks for the data very much appreciated. Thx to all that responded
