Anchor ropes and trout

My anchor rope must be a trout magnet. Yesterday, a frisky 18" 'bow takes a chironomid suspended at about 13 feet down and decides to fight around the canoe instead of swimming off. After two minutes it runs between the anchor rope and the canoe so I decide to lift the anchor and the indicator just sits there so I figure it's gone. Nope, still on so I lower the anchor again (i didn't want to drift away from a hot spot!) and continue the battle. Heads for the rope again but in the meantime I figure it's time for the net so I grab the leader to hand line but the middle chironomid snags in the rope and then my finger while trying to free it, but by then the tippet has snapped and trout is gone.

This was not the only time so I can't imagine using two anchors as recommended by some!

Fun challenge. It is even worse anchored in a tube. More fun when the fish is 24" and you are completely out of control

I never seem to have that problem.
Once hooked, the fish is completely under my control.
As an alternative, you could use a sledgehammer fly rod (6wt+) and just horse it in like the gear guys do. Hahahahaha!

He does, catches tons of dinkies...8 to 10 inches, maybe the odd 13 or 14 incher, that's why he has it all under control!
