The legendary Randy Bourque has the record from the NSR. I fished with him 25 years ago. Hes a sturgeon pioneer !!!!

Just found this old thread and thought I would post this picture. We were sturgeon fishing in the Ottawa River between Ont & Que when my buddy caught this mooneye that was over 2lbs.
We knew it was a big mooneye but never consider it might be a record, took this photo and then used it for cut-bait to catch channel catfish.

The current Ontario record mooneye of 1.94 was caught a couple of years later in the same area of the river.

Wow, that is a big Mooneye. Hard to tell the eye from the pic but the other feature that I googled was that the dorsal fin would be ahead or even to of the anal fine. In the pic, it is obvious that the dorsal is ahead of the anal fin.

That would trump the AB record by a mile. Also would trump the ON record which google says is 1.43 lbs.

Landed a chunky 16" last summer not sure what it would of weighed tho
