For 300 bucks I think it might be the best you can get. I've seen people on lakes use this pontoon. Personally I feel the more you spend the better quality you get. Look into outcast. Or on the more expensive brand being Dave scadden. You get what you pay for.
I own a scadden. Initially it was a expensive investment but I think it was money well spent. It tracks nice in the water and also is a bladder less float tube. I've had a leak before i launched for a long float one day and it was no problem at all. I had te other 3 chambers full and keep me afloat.
There is tonnes of info online. Do your research and you'll be happy with your purchase.
Go buy the Costco one and take it for a float and decide if its good enough for you. If you don't like it go back and return it. Costco s got a crazy return policy

The boats you are looking at have a reputation of the frame welds letting go or the frames breaking. If you are a heavier person they may not last.
I purchased a couple and they served us well for a few years. One other local kid had one that needed to be rewelded. You can get 100-150 for them used so cheap entertainment.
You will also need waders, fins and a couple of life jackets in you budget.
For 3-400 you can sometimes pick up a Fishcat 8 ft Streamer on Kijiji if you don't mind waiting for the deal. The Outcast are much better boats as are the Water Skeeters IMO.

my friend just bought a Costco pontoon, its not a bad pontoon, its just heavy. my best advice is look for a outcast fishcat, new they are around that 500 dollar mark, look for a used one as stated above in previous thread. at least with the fishcat you get quality 600 denier pontoons not the fabric looking kind not sure on their denier.

I have the Costco Wilderness 13 and yes it is a little heavy, I wouldn't want to carry it too far. I've only used it on still water so far but it appears to handle well. Other than the weight no other issues. I'm happy with the product and the price!

Go to The Creek Company website and have a look. I have used a 9 ft ODC Supersport for several years and am very happy with it. Also their customer service is excellent.

Anyone running a trolling motor on one of these? They specify a 36" length for these boats, but the 30 lbs ones I have found are all 30".

If you are considering one of the lower end pontoons, another alternative would be one from Creek Company. Cabelas.com (US site) is still clearing out their discontinued models of the ODC Sport LT. This option works best if you can have it shipped close to the border to a mail delivery service for pickup or if you are planning a trip to the States near a Cabelas. They offer Free to Store shipping. At $199 US, although a very basic 8 foot pontoon boat it is tough to beat. This model is not set up to take an electric motor, but it wouldn't take much to modify it.
