Went down with Mooseguy to Policemans to take a look at what is left.
I thought it might be bad, but it's worse... It's gone.
There was a solo guy, running his dump truck and bobcat all day to make the area somewhat accessible. Launching a boat is possible, for now; Behind what is left of the boat launch boulders you can see near the end of the video.
Have also been down to Policeman's a couple of times since the flood. I wonder at times whether it would make more sense to set back the parking areas well away from the river and spend the money only on the approach to a boat launch. Understanding these floods seem to care little about all the work put into restoring these facilities, it would seem much more cost effective to put in a road of sorts servicing the launching of boats rather than rebuilding parking lots and such. A little bit of a walk to the river from our cars wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience for most of us.
I took out of Police on friday night and the launch is fine, we don't need cement. the dude with the cat doing the work is a great guy to be doing this work on his own dime.
I think there should be no money spent on Policemans, it is placed in wrong location to have any longevity, outsides of bends get wiped out in floods.
Fish creek launch looked fine to me on Friday. Just some gravel on the launch. I was looking at it and someone on a mega phone from a fire dept truck yelled at me to stay away from the river because its closed. I was just looking lol!
Eastbound Heritage access to Westbound Glenmore is still closed, thus so will be the Glenmore launch.
Policemans can be used, if you have a 4x4. When the water drops, I suspect only drift boats will be able to launch at Policemans due to the shallow water.
