RCBS Chargemaster Modifications
Was looking at how to get my chargemaster working a bit better and came across these great mods for the unit. Here are some simple mods that any of us can do in minutes and it actually worked pretty awesome. The first one was just a simple McDonald's straw cut to 1" and then inserted into the dispensing spout. It fit perfect and definitely help with the powder not bunching up at the end of the trickle cycle and over charging the load. The second mod was a really simple reprogram of the dispenser that sped up the time it takes drop a load and it worked awesome to. Here's the videos that I got these mods from. I used the reprogramming numbers from the second video in this post. Couple other things I read is to not let the power cord curl up, avoid Floresent lighting and keep your cell phone far away and this should help with some erratic behavior from the scale. Cheers

Try this. Use the whole straw with a smaller cutout on the feeder end that can be adjusted to type of powder even better.

You would think for $500 you wouldn't have to go to McDonalds for accessories.

Yes but, the RCBS version would likely cost more in the realm of $19.95 and you wouldn't get the drink to go with it.

True enough. But the spiral channel inside the delivery tube is meant primarly for extruded powders. The McDonald straw is merely a DIY trick to ease ball powders dropping.

Hahaha at least it's free, I was more excited from the simple reprogram to speed up the time to dispense powder.

I read this thread tonight and went and reprogrammed my charge master to speed it up. I didn't time it but it is way way faster. I loaded up 98 7LRM rounds tonight and basically as fast as I could seat the bullets the charge master was done. Anyone that hasn't reprogrammed theirs, I would recommend it.

Is the RCBS Chargemaster the Cadillac of electronic powder measures? I have a Lyman and I quite like it but if there is something better you may see it on buy and sell.

I had the Lyman for about 3 weeks earlier this year. Used different powders in it. Found the small ball powders hard to clean out around the feeder tube seals and think they would wear fast as you pull out the tube through them to clean.
Traded it in for the CM1500 and what a difference in cleaning time.
