Default Weekend fishing trip

Well, some of you will know about parts of our trip from the Lost Dog Thread I started. I figured I would fill in the rest of the trip.
Everything started out very well, myself, my wife, 2 daughters and my youngest daughters best friend
We got away late on Friday, after school start. Not sure exactly, but I think we arrived at the lake between 8-9 pm.
Solid start from the truck

Everyone was wet and dirty within the first KM, but spirits were high.

The first half of the trail is mostly muskeg and mud holes.

Once you get to the creek, you’re half way there

The second half of the trail is also mostly muskeg and mud holes, but with a couple dry spots mixed in.

The girls went for a swim when we got there. The ice went off the lake about 10-12 days before we arrived. It wasn’t actually all gone, we found plenty of ice floating around for drinks

So, that was the trip in

You may know about the missing people and lost dog fiasco, if not, and if interested, it’s in another post. I won’t go there now.
We did however find our dog, so we celebrated

That was a good time

And with that, there was nothing left to do but pack up and head home the next day

Yes, all the quads stuck in a row. Most of the time they can do “Bump and goes” to get each other out, sometimes it doesn’t work. At those times I can usually push them all out together

Sometimes it’s best to just push with the Argo

So, that was my weekend.
Have a good nigh

So, these are a few clips from the trip. I’ve kept them short, but (I hope ) interesting.

This shows a couple instances when all the quads jammed up and I was able to push the works of them through.

This is the “Little Screamer” mud hole, we have to cross this to get to the spring for drinking water when the lake water is not acceptable (like full of pollen or weed seeds at times). The trailer behind the quad has a few 5gal buckets full of water in it, but you can see it’s floating behind the bike at times

This is the “Big Scream”, not as long as the Little Screamer, but it’s deeper and harder to get out of with these smaller bikes. My wife almost swamped the girls bike ahead of her by pushing in a wave of water, it was a close thing. I probably didn’t help much, I didn’t see them ahead of us, but I did manage to ease up behind them and push the front of the bike up a bit.

Camping, Quading, Shooting, Boating & Fishing. AWESOME!

That about checks all the boxes. I'm assuming there were many adult beverages by the fire at night.

What a GREAT way to spend time with the Fam, well done!

I always enjoy these posts from you, thanks for sharing.

Yes, sure

This is a photo from the nice gentleman who first spotted Chevy. As you can see, he is looking a little run down from his 30km adventure.

This is him about 5hrs later when I finally caught up to him. He’s dried off a bit and looks rested.

This is him at home, happy to see that we made it home a day after he arrived.

Yes, roughly two and a half I believe. My wife took him in as a foster pup when he was about 9 months old (we had recently lost our dog and were not looking at the time), he had been removed from a very brutal home, she agreed to take him for a couple weeks. Bonds were formed between the dog and my wife, he loves her to death, but he has a huge fear of men, even myself after all the time he’s been with us. That was actually a real dilemma when we were trying to figure out how to find him. That dog would run through fire to reach my wife, no question. He would run faster the other way through fire if he thought I was annoyed or mad at him, because I’m male, and he had some pretty bad experiences with men. But, someone had to stay at the cabin and someone had to look for him, our situation and location dictated that I go look. When I did finally find him, the encounter went very much as I expected. As I drove up to the location that he had been seen earlier, I could see him laying by my jacket (I left it there with food and water), he half stood up, watching my approach and very visibly ready to bolt. I had my window down and was calling him in a cheerful voice, he didn’t move a muscle. I stopped like 50 ft away, kept calling him and telling him he’s a good boy, he waited a few seconds as I shut my truck off, then made his decision. He stood up a bit more and started towards me slowly with tail tucked, I opened my door, stepped out, and he stopped, mid step. He watched me, he listened to my words, he analyzed my tone, his eyes were glued to me. I knelt down to his level, he was still about 35ft from me, finally the look on his face changed, he made about 3 quick steps to me, hesitated, then kinda flowed up to me, not excited though. He stopped again as he got close enough to smell my hand, THEN, the tail started wagging, he licked and nuzzled my hand, pushing himself against me. Not even close to the enthusiasm he shows my wife every time he sees her, but more than he ever shows to most people.

So, ya, he’s about 2yrs old or so, lol.
