Default first for me

I was out quadding yesterday checking alf and clover field on my land and i drove up on this huge bull elk, Jult 17th and no velvet. All poslish. Dont tell me it was last years that didnt fall off . If so they would be bleached white. He was a 300 plus. I was 50 yds from him. Try to take a pic with my cell but never use it and had trouble finding how to use it lol. then he ran away

Didnt think they rub thios early.

where abouts ill come take a look at him for you. Ive heard if they get more then enough protein over the winter they can keep em on. Just what I heard.

this spring the place was like a cattle yard, They had plenty of protien , but never heard of that lol. and right now its 3 feet high of protien

The ones I've seen around here are in velvet and still have a lot of growing to do. Bull with a hormone problem?

It could be possible that it was a cow with antlers. It has been reported with deer I wonder if it's possible with elk aswell. Was It a bull for sure. Did you see twig an berries

Most likely.

Gotta clear those barbed wires.



Too much plant protein causes ungulates to not shed? That's a new one....

Some elk would have shed velvet by now. Rut is less then 2 months away

Check out the thread I posted today.....2 bulls with velvet still on and by the looks a bit longer before they start shredding it up...

The farmed elk still have velvet too.
