i have a winchester model 2200 that i got from my dad.
on the gun it says : 2200-12g-2 3/4 chamber-winchester proof steel-full.
my question is can i shoot steel through it even though its a fixed full choke?

I don't think so but you can go to a local gunsmith and get them to bore it out for you,or maybe cut the choke out off the barrell and make a new one.

Default Call the manufacturer

call winchester. Sounds like they have called it a "steel-full" choke. Might be their version of a modified.

Don;t smith the gun if you don;t have to.

Might also mean that the steel of the barrel is "proof steel" whatever that means.

Default have the fixed full choke opened up

Best pattern and choke is modified for steel.
Full will likely be too much constriction so could burst barrel or ring/split the choke creating a weakness.
Often discussed here so you can search other threads but I wouldn't shoot steel.

That means that it is Winchester proof steel barrel with a full choke. That doesn't mean it is steel capable.
Take it to a good gunsmith and have it bored to modified as we discussed earlier.
