Default Magazine question

Just picked up one of the new Weatherby Model 307s in 7mm Rem Mag. It has a Magpul/AICS 5 round mag included. My question is, since it’s a bolt action which have no limit on mag size, could I get a larger capacity mag for it for range days? Or since magpul mags are used on some semi-autos is it illegal to go higher than 5 rounds with them? Thanks in advance

I’m not sure on the rules these days for bolts, but I think there’s a good chance the longer mag will mess you up on the bench. If it were a non stanag mag I’d say you’re ok.

Aics mags a different than the Magpul mags used in most common semi autos (stanag).
They’re not as common as smaller capacity mags but yes you can get a 10 round for it and it is legal even for hunting use in Alberta.

I believe the liberals have now made any 10 round magazines for bolt guns prohibited. Five rounders are now legal. Correct me if I’m wrong, but c21 has the new mag limits(?).

I might be mistaken on limits for bolt guns(?). It might be 5 rounds for semi’s and not bolt guns.

Someone please save me.

C21 still has no bearing on bolt action magazines. It does have language that would prohibit pinned magazines for semi auto centerfire rifles and handguns, although I’m not sure that has actually come into force yet.

Nothing has come into force yet that I have heard. You should still be able to use a 10 round LAR 15 pistol mag in a semi auto.

The liberals haven't banned ALL detachable magazines that hold more than 5 rounds yet, and they will likely wait until after the election to continue with their agenda to totally disarm Canadians. But if they somehow win the next election the bans will continue, until Canadians are not allowed to own any firearms.
