Anyone can shoot very well with lots of practice, and of course some people have the talent to shoot extremely well and others don't, no matter how much the latter practice.

The best shot I have ever seen, albeit only on video is Tim Wells. His shot on flying doves with a bow and his skills at long range with a bow on big game is simply remarkable!

I don't know who the best long range shooters are but I know there are always a bunch who are better than I at every match I attend. Leeper.

Gotta say I'm in the same boat. I've made some of the most unlikely shots imaginable, and missed the easiest. No rhyme or reason I suppose. Just luck of the draw.

Almost needs to say- look at my shooting you jive turkeys. Lol.

With great Afro comes great responsibility.

Don't mean to offend. It's cool. Wish I could grow mine like that again.

And he kept his head and was able to wear it , yes, for sure!
However, it was a "one shot Hail Mary" .

No question there Cat. I bet they were saying a lot of Hail Mary's after the large group of warriors retreated.

Most people have never heard of this guy, or any of the shooters in the DCRA Hall of fame for that matter.
http://www.dcra.ca/fame.php
Or Gerry Ouellette , a Windsor Ontario shooter who in 1956 set a World record in small bore match rifle with a perfect 600-60X with a BORROWED rifle from Team Gil Boa!!
Mr. Boa shot a 598/600 for the bronze.
These men are who I have always considered among the World's greatest shooters when I was growing up (and still do for that matter)

Just working from my memory here, the shot was from 1500 yards. Billy Dixon was a buffalo hunter and he probably knew his 50-70 fairly well. He did admit it was a lucky shot, but some people make their own luck.

He gets my vote.

What does a person need for proof to confirm a 500m off hand shot and not have it called b.s on here. I have a range I shoot out to 400 yards. 1 mile if I wanted too. What caliber or will any center fire do?

Lets make it interesting. The rifle you hunt with, I will use the rifle I hunt with. No benches, no contraptions, no lead bags, the same techniques that we use while real life hunting situations. Sound ok to you?

Rifle sling allowed I would presume.
But no stiff shooting jackets, shooting gloves or hooked stocks.
