Default Such thing as off-road diesel?

Down in Texas and Louisiana I get off road diesel when we go offroading in Utah and/or just ripping around on the beaches in Texas. Last I remember it's about $1.50 a gallon. Is there anything like that here? I'm assuming our off roading is what you can get at UFA if you're a farmer?

You can get it BUT you have to apply for a permit to purchase it and prove your need and use of it.

Purple fuel is for farm use only and the road tax is not applied to it. It's roughly 10 cents a litre cheaper.

Not correct. Oilfield for example also uses marked diesel

Not in anything with a road engine that will see time on paved roads. Deck engines yes but not road engines. Unless you're willing to risk the fine if they dip your tanks at the scale..

In BC and AB. Saskatchewan your only allowed to use it in the boiler if I remember correctly. The rig had to run clear and we didn’t bother running dyed fuel in the boiler when we worked there cause it was easier to just order clear. Bonus for the boys cause our trucks got clear fuel in sask. That said, it may have changed. I’ve worked over seas since 2011 so it’s been a while.

The only thing that dyed fuel now gives you a break on is carbon tax.

We ran dyed fuel in everything on the rigs I worked on.

We ran Dyed fuel in all our deck engines when I was Well Stimulation. (a few times had to run dyed in the Tractors tanks as that was the only thing around), in that case you make note in your pre trip of how much dyed you used and the then it is up to your company to report it.

Incorrect. Mileage is tracked when off road. Receipts tracked. Can't remember the exact paperwork required, been a while. Had water trucks, ect....working in CLAWR that never saw a public road for months on end. They burned off road (marked) fuel all winter.

You are correct, you have to apply for a Tax Exempt Fuel User Number.. the assigned number is good for two years. We run “dyed” diesel in all of our off highway equipment. Anything that we plate for road use we have to run “clear” fuel. There’s more info available under the Fuel Tax Act.

If you fill up a slip tank with red dye in Montana then bring it back to Alberta and burn it in a skid steer that would be illegal?
