Browning BLR Lightweight Stainless, Lever Action, 7mm-08 Remington, 20" Barrel, 4+1 Rounds.....topped off with a nice scope of choice say 2-7 or 3-9 power

Maybe consider a Ruger No1 single shot.
That takes the lefty righty out of the equation , which makes it easier to sell if you choose to at some point.

Default Bob Gotta Gun!

Well, I saw this thread in the morning, and I wondered why no one was asking Bob if he wanted a rifle with soul or not (ie wood and blued). I reached out to Bob, and he desired a rifle with a soul.

So I saw that P&D had a couple that fit the bill. I felt like putting a pint of draught under an alcoholic's nose so to speak, so I jumped in the truck to go to P&D to take some pics for Bob. Not that Bob has a drinking problem, I just like analogies.

Dang if there weren't a CZ 557 in 30-06, left handed, and with gorgeous wood to boot! Out comes the Camera.

I sent the pics. Twisted Canuck and I then put on the hardcore, against all OHS rules, olympic level peer pressure on Old Tirebobski!

Tirebobski has a CZ 30-06 on hold as of 15 mins ago

I should also add, this one was last year’s pricing, so he saved $175 over the 308 they had in stock. Cha ching!

He has $865 left for a scope and rings!

No, the .308 had a shorter barrel with a big hooded front sight. No good. The .30-06 was perfect though, and Bob has a soft spot for that cartridge anyway. Beautiful Monte Carlo stock.

Congrats Bob, you will really like the CZ, they are great rifles. Was the wood on the 308 as good? If so, that might be tempting. A nice refinish to highlight the grain could make for a very pretty rifle.

The wood on the .308 was nice, but not as nice. Also not a Monte Carlo stock, and a 20" barrel with a big ugly hooded fibre optic front site. Just wasn't as nice. Also, was $175 more. So it was an easy choice for Bob. He likes the -06, and he got exactly what he wanted. A good day. This is a pic of the .308

Congrats Bob. I noticed that gun on the P&D site too.

CZ's are even nicer than Tikka's. And the price is really good.

If you get someone to transport it to Calgary for you they may be tempted to stop at the range and test fire some shots. Hope you don't mind if that happens...

I thiink Bob got a great rifle. I was thinking about the 308 more for me to play with for a while. Would definitely hace to swap out the butt ugly front sight insert though.

That .308 would be a perfect bush gun Dean, short barrel, and even with that ugly sight.

Thanks guys! And yeah… SNS2 and TC… Both of you are dicks, but I appreciate you all just the same! Last time I come on AO with a 3 month plan though. You guys peer pressure worse than high school friends!

Now I just need to work out how to present this purchase to my lady…

It couldn't be helped. It was like raw meat in front of a hungry dog.

You don't tell gun people 'hey, I'm thinking of buying a rifle....' And expect nothing to happen.

At least you didn't mention to Sns that you were thinking of having a rifle built in .338 Federal. He actually impersonated me and got a quote!!

There is nothing that many of us like better than firearms shopping, especially when it's with someone else's money. I have had several friends call me much worse after they asked for advise. It was their fault, they put me up to it.

One thing that I will suggest, is to replace those sling swivels and studs with quick release studs and swivels.

Didn't take you long to figure out what these guys are all about. Put them two together and this is what happens ....... bunch of rotten bandits.

At least they came out with a fantastic result - shows you when two blind squirrels work together, they may find a nut sometimes.

Worked out this time - next time these guys may lead you to waking up in some strange place missing a tooth, with a face tattoo, missing your pants and a sore behind.

That is exactly the scope! And it would be nice in gloss instead of matte, but can't find one.

And EZM is a smarty pants too. Don't listen to him. I'd never knock your tooth out.

A couple good options (as we all live vicariously through Bob ....) - both IN STOCK in Calgary

https://www.cabelas.ca/product/38463...z3-riflescopes

https://www.cabelas.ca/product/14831...0mm-riflescope

Those would be my top choices at that price point ...
